Monica Bocanegra, Ph.D. (Bilingual English/Spanish)
Dr. Bocanegra is a licensed clinical psychologist in Delaware and Pennsylvania. At the Hockessin Center for Change, she provides therapy to children, adolescents, young adults, couples, and families in English and Spanish. She specializes in treating:

Children/adolescents who have been victims of maltreatment or abuse,
-
Individuals with anxiety, and
-
Children under the age of 6.
Dr. Bocanegra also has experience in:

Conducting therapy with most mental health disorders, including depression, anxiety, Mood/Bipolar Disorder, eating disorders, ADHD, behavioral difficulties and learning differences,

Working with individuals with developmental disorders or chronic medical conditions (including, but not limited to HIV, Cancer, and gastrointestinal problems),
-
Conducting therapy aimed at improving adjustment to separation and divorce, parent-child relationships, and blended families, and
-
Consultations with schools and other professionals.
Dr. Bocanegra completed her B.S. in Psychology at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. She completed her M.S. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of Miami in Miami, Florida, specializing in Children and Families and Pediatric Psychology. She completed her residency and 2-year research and clinical fellowship at the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children (AIDHC).

Dr. Bocanegra has worked in community mental health clinics, children’s hospitals, primary care setting, and medical centers. Within these settings, she has engaged in therapy using empirically supported treatments, evaluation and screening, inpatient consultation-liaison services, clinical research, and the training of medical residents on basic behavior principles and interventions.
